NCSOFT today announced the Season 2 content roadmap for its MMORPG AION 2, alongside key performance milestones achieved since launch.
Launched on November 19, 2025, AION 2 surpassed KRW 100 billion in cumulative revenue as of January 3—just 46 days after launch. During the same period, more than 1 million characters purchased m memberships. Building on this momentum, the development team is preparing for the Season 2 update.
Season 2 begins January 21, introducing significant expansions to PvE content, including Expedition, Raid, Ascension Trial, and Nightmare, with new dungeons added across each category. PvP content centered on the Abyss will also receive targeted adjustments and improvements.
Key updates include
January 21: New Expedition dungeon Dying Dramata’s Nest will be introduced. Additionally, new raid content such as Fallen Orcus’s Heart and Farfnite Forge will also be added, alongside new Ascension Trial dungeons—Depository of Fates and Tyrant’s Hideout—will also debut.
January 28: Additional Expedition dungeon Cradle of Nihility will follow.
February 4: New Transcendence content, Submerged Life Temple, will become available, featuring difficulty levels from Stage 1 to Stage 10.
February 18: Hard difficulty modes will be added to both Dying Dramata’s Nest and Cradle of Nihility.
February 25: New Sanctuary content Corroded Decontamination Facility, expanding high-end PvE challenges.
Season 2 will also introduce a series of quality-of-life updates aimed at reducing player fatigue and streamline gameplay. Planned improvements include adjustments to Expedition and Transcendence ticket consumption systems, the addition of new Arcana slots, class-based ranking systems for Ascension Trial and Daily Dungeon, expanded Sync options for armor, and eased boss mechanics for certain melee-target encounters.
PvP-focused updates to the Abyss will also arrive. A new high-tier zone, Middle Reshanta, featuring item-level entry restrictions, will be activated. Convenience improvements will be applied to Artifact Siege – Artifact Resonance, alongside changes to Abyss gear balance and Abyss Point acquisition limits.
As part of the January 7 update, AION 2 will introduce improvements to the pet system in response to player feedback. Genus Insight and pet ownership, previously applied on a per-character basis, will transition to server-wide sharing. Genus Insight will be based on the highest value achieved among characters on the same server, while pet levels will be aggregated across all characters, significantly reducing repetitive progression requirements.
Namjoon Kim, Development Producer for AION 2, commented, “Thanks to the incredible support from our players, AION 2 has surpassed KRW 100 billion in revenue within just a month and a half. We deeply appreciate the enthusiasm and look forward to delivering Season 2 updates and convenience improvements as promised throughout 2026 while continuing proactive engagement with our players to ensure their feedback shapes future content and experiences.”
